how do i sign up?
To enroll in any of our activities, just send us an
e-mail with the name and date of the course you wish to participate in. We will then send you the entry form along with the syllabus for the course, gear list, etc. You just need to return it filled in, along with a proof of payment.
Yes. If you have a group wanting to do a course, you can set the date that is more convenient to you, and we'll set up a private course!
Do you do courses for private entities?
Yes. We have been giving courses to companies and associations, in bushcraft, survival and team building. If you want to do one of our course, we'll be glad to adapt our contents to meet your needs.

Besides our regular promotions and season offers, every group of 5 or more gets a discount!
Do you do professional instruction? how about teambuilding?
We have on our permanent staff acredited instructors, able to give instruction to companies and to develop bushcraft and survival related teambuilding activities. The teambuilding activities are not designed to prepare anyone to a survival situation.
Private businesses that need survival training for it's employees must go through a process of acessing the work conditions and usual equipment, so that a propper program can be developed to match the real needs of the employees.
Do you provide certificates?
Yes. All students that meet the programatic objectives stated in the pedagogic dossier defined for each course will get the correspondent certificate, a Escola do Mato patch, a group photo, a hug and our eternal friendship and gratitude.
Do you have insurance, camp and fire permits
Yes. All our activities are insured, and all our camp sites have due licence to camp and make fire under Portuguese law. During the fire ban season, we have camps where fire is allowed under controlled circumstances
Do you provide transfers to and from Lisbon airport?
We can arrange for you or your group to be picked up at the airport by one of our staff. Please
e-mail us so we know how many and when are you arriving. Our camps are no more than a half hour's drive from the airport.
We have partnerships with some inbound travel agencies, so we can provide for a flight included course.
Are there bugs? Do i have to eat bugs like in TV?
There are bugs. It's nature, and there is more life in a square meter of soil than people in our country. But we will not notice most of them, and we will show you how to protect yourself from the unwanted visitors and take them as camp mates.
Noone will make you eat anything you don't want to. There is a lot to eat in the woods that is out of the ordinary, and the option to taste it or not is always a personal choice. We like them. They taste like cheese ham cheetos.
Will i be hungry or cold? I don't see myself enjoying being miserable.
No way! You will be well fed by the most excelent Portuguese delicacies, and any of our female students can abide by our chocolate based desserta.
One of the things you will also learn is how to dress and shelter for the cold, so if you follow our instructions, you will probably be hot.
Do you make courses abroad?
Our courses go through a series of requisites, because we want you to have the most unique experience. So it's important for us that not only the place is of a single beauty, but also has good biodiversity, acess to drinking water, fire and camping permits and away from city noise. As you can imagine, it's not easy to find places like these and we tend to stick to places we know and use regularly, but if you have a camp that matches this criteria, we'd be more than happy to go to you.
Do you do jungle/desert survival courses?
It's not in our usual offer. We belive that as much as you know theory and technique, it is essential that you live in the environment to master the issue of survival. One thing is what you read on books, another is living constantly with the danger of dehydration, heat stroke or humidity near 100%.
But if you are going to any of those places and want to be ready, we'd be more than happy to show you one of the several experts we know in those areas.
I have a bushcraft school. Can i use your camp?
Sure. We are more than happy to welcome you, transfer you and your group, provide you with gear and food, and even a guide to local fauna and flora, so you can take advantage of our fair weather and do something different for your students. If you wish to see the place beforehand, we can even give you a tour so you can check for yourself what can be done. Besides camp, there is a series of outdoor activities to explore, from hiking to rock climbing, canoeing, biking, etc.
And, of course, there is all the local history (we can provide an official tour guide), and the fantastic Portuguese food, wine and hospitality.
